Newly Added Plants ( 2019)

Following are what have been newly added during 2019 to the albums of this website

Fritirallia x matsumoi / Iwamikobaimo

This is what was described in 2018 as a natural hybrid between Fritirallia ayakoana and Fritirallia amabilis. A couple of habitats are known.

Viola obato-oblonga f. pubescens / Kenagaba tachitsubosumire    I found just a single plant of this on a sedimentary rock made up mainly of calcium carbonate. This forma of Viola ovata-oblonga is characterized by striking hair on each lateral petal.
Anemone nikoensis f. plena / Yaeichirinsou

We hardly ever see a double-flowered Anemone nikoensis, but I came across one among the population of its parent species.
Viola maximowicziana / Komiyamasumire I saw this species mingling among the other kind of plants in a wet and dark place, the flowers being beautiful ivory-white ,and leave with lots of hairs on the veins.
Anodendron affine / Sakakikazura A kind of rare creeping plant rarely found. I saw this having been being fallen down over a country road, along with its supporter, a kind of bamboo already dead.
Mazus miquelii f. albiflorus / Shirobanasagisou A white variety of Mazus miquelii. I saw one mingling among the purple species for the first time.
Asarum_caulescens_f. / Shirobanafutabaaoi This apparently is the white form of Asarum caulesces, but the first moment I saw it conveyed me another idea.
Wisteria brachybotrys f. alba / Shirobanayamafuji This species is very common in this part of the country, but the white form is seldom seen.
Zabelia_integrifolia / Iwatsukubaneutsugi This is a shrub that was found on hilltop in a limestone district, being seen rooting in cracks of rocks.
Stellaria uchiyamana / Yamahakobe Very much looks like Stellaria sessiliflora, but this species have not petioles. I saw it in full bloom in a limestone district.
Salvia akiensis / Terihanatsunotamurasou This is a new species described in 2014. I saw one on a semi-shady slope on a low hill, it being found forming a population of around a dozen.
Leucothoe grayana var. hypoleuca / Urajirohanahirinoki    Found at a high elevation around 1,100m from sea level.
Sambucus chinensis / Sokuzu I saw this growing and making a large population at a roadside slope close to the sea.
Cynanchum wilfordii / Koikema I came across this one driving on a roadside near the sea, the plant hanging from branches of some kind of small trees.
Spiranthes sinensis var. amoena f. albescens / Shirobanamojizuri This white form of S.piranthes sinennsis v. amoena is rarely seen, whereas the original species being very common in the grassland
Dianthus armeria / Noharanadeshiko  This alien species was found growing on the seashore mingling with the other kind of species.
Schoenoplectus triangularis / Kangare I found this in stagnant water in a wetland, it forming tuft.
Solanum japonense / Yamahoroshi I saw this at mountain roadside on high hillside. This is listed as a critically endangered species in the Shimane Red Data Book.
Cirsium japonica var. vestitum / Keshouazami  This just looks like C. japonica, but the bottom of leaves is white in color with hairs. I couldn't identify until recently.
Azolla japonica / Ooakaukikusa  saw this floating in a close-to-stagnant part of water. This fern plant is currently so rare that it is designated as an endangered species almost across the country.
Geranium tripartitum / Kofuuro This species looks like Geranium thunderbergii, but the leaves are dissected in 3-5 lobes.
Geranium dimorphophyllum / Muronouchifuuro Presumed to be a natural hybrid between G.tripartitum and G. thunderbergii. This species is characteried by the leaves deeply cleft.
Scutellaria dependens / Himenamiki A small species found in wetland. Though much smaller, the flower resembles Scutellaria dependens.
Cirsium maruyamanum / Murakumoazami The thistle in this photo had been obscurely unknown for around a decade time until I had Dr. Kadota identify.
