Albizia julibrissin is a deciduous tree with gray-brown
barks found in riverbanks or wastelands in rural districts.
Phyllotaxis being alternate, leaves are of a bipinnate compound,
20-30cm long, with 7-12 pairs of opposite laminae with 15-30 pairs
of leaflets. The leaflets measure 1-1.7cm long and 4-6mm wide. As
nights set in, the leaves hang, and the leaflets close as in sleep.
Flowers, 10-20 in number, light red, put themselves on branch ends
in a headway. Petals are connate from the bases until halfway
upward, and the layout becomes funnel-shaped. Stamens are many,
3-4cm long, and protrude long from the flowers - prominent. Bloom
time: June-July. |
