Allium thunbergii / Yamarakkyou ヤマラッキョウ

Allium thunbergii is a perennial plant that grows in grasslands in mountainous regions, with bulbs measuring 2-3cm in length and oblong-ovate in shape. Flower stalks measure 30-60cm in height, with 3-5 leaves at the bases. The leaves are cylindrical, measuring 20-50cm in length, 2-5mm in width, and have triangular cross-sections. Shoots with apices bear many small, red-purple flowers in an umbel. Bloom time: September-October.
