Allium thunbergii / Yamarakkyou ヤマラッキョウ

   

Allium thunbergii is a perennial growing in grasslands in mountainous regions, with bulbs 2-3cm long in the shape of an oblong-ovate. Flower stalks measure 30-60cm height, with 3-5 leaves at the bases. The leaves are cylindrical, 20-50cm long, 2-5mm wide, and have triangular cross-sections. Shoot apexes bear many small red-purple flowers in the way of an umbel way. Bloom time: September-October.
