Ancistrocarya japonica is a perennial, growing to
50-80cm tall, and inhabiting the shade of trees in mountainous
regions. Leaves are of alternate phyllotaxis, 10-20cm long, in the
shape of an oblong, gathering on the central parts of the stems.
Flowers are tubular, bell-shaped, 1-13cm long, ranging from white to
blue-purple. Bloom time: May-June.
