Anemone flaccida / Nirinsou ニリンソウ

Anemone flaccida is a perennial herb that reaches 15-25cm in height, forming colonies in damp areas of fields and mountains. Radical leaves dissect themselves into three lobes, afresh deeply cleft into two segments. On-stem leaves are in whorls of three petiole-less leaves. Stem tops consist of 2 or 3 flower stalks, each approximately 2 cm in diameter, with two white flowers on their tops. This species, lacking petals, has 5-7 petal-like sepals; the bottom side of the sepals tinges red. Bloom time: April-May.
