Arabis stelleri var.
japonica is a perennial herb growing in sandy soil in seashores,
stems growing to 20-50cm in height, with simple white hairs and
branched hairs on them. Leaves are thick and have stellate hairs on
both leaf surfaces. Radical leaves are spatulate, 3-7cm in length,
with shallow serrations on upper portions and on-stem leaf bases
embracing the stems. Flowers, white, are large and prominent, with
petals measuring 7-9mm in length. Fruit is linear, 4-6cm in height,
attaches itself to the stem. Bloom time: April-June. |
