Artemisia capillaris
is a 0.3-1m tall perennial that occurs in dry riverbeds, sandy soil
on seashores, and similar habitats, with lignified stems in its
lower parts. The branches without flowers are short and set
rosette-like leaves at the tips; the leaves with long petioles are
bipinnately divided; the terminal segments are thread-like, many
with dense gray-white sericeous on both surfaces, and look whitish.
Leaves on flower stalks are generally hairless, mono- to bipinnately
divided, and the terminal segments are thready. Flower heads set
themselves conically. 1.5-2mm in diameter, spherical to oval. Bloom
time: September-October. |
