Astilbe microphylla is a perennial of 30-80cm in height
and inhabits somewhat damp locations, with long brown hairs on stems
and petioles. Leaves are bi- to tetra-imparipinnate compounds;
leaflets, 1-4cm long, in the shape of an oval or obovate, with tips,
pointed in a tail way, and margins double serrated. Long and narrow,
inflorescences are conical; lateral branches, short, grow obliquely
upward. Flowers are generally light red, measuring about 4mm in
length, with sepals and petals 5 in number, respectively; stamens
are 10, and pistil styles are 2. Bloom time: June-August. |
