Atractylodes ovata,
a perennial found in somewhat dry grasslands, grows to 0.3-1m in
height with thin and stiff stems and white vellus hairs throughout,
which are conspicuous when sprouting. Leaves with long petioles are
cut into three to five, with spinous serrations on the margins.
Flower heads are 1.5-2cm in diameter, with fishbone-like bracts
around the involucres. Tubular flowers are white and rarely tinge
red. Bloom time: September-October. |
