Atriplex patens
is an annual plant that occurs in sandy soil on seashores,
reaching a height of 5-10cm. Leaves are of alternate phyllotaxis, in
a narrow lanceolate to linear shape, and young leaves are covered
with white powdery substances. Spikes set male and female flowers
mingling; the male flowers lack bracts and cut perianths in 2-4,
while female flowers lack the perianths and have two bracts. After
the flower, the female's bracts grow 3-4mm long and envelop
utricles. Bloom time: August-October. |
