Begonia grandis, a naturalized perennial herb found in
Japan, grows to around 70cm in height and has large, about
20cm-long, left-right-asymmetric, alternately arranged leaves. The
flowers are of diclinism (having stamens or pistils in separate
flowers), with small petals placed on the left and right, and sepals
oriented up and down. Male flowers open facing the anterior side,
and female ones hang and bloom facing downward. Bloom time:
August-October. |
