Bryophyllum tubiflorum,
a succulent perennial herb originating in Madagascar, grows
wild in western coastal districts. Leaves, 6-8cm in length, spotted
with purple-black on a gray-green background, with bulbils at tips.
The bulbils that have fallen on the ground take root; thus, this
species can asexually propagate. Flowers, orange to bright red, set
themselves on the stem apexes. Bloom time: May-August. |
