Bryophyllum tubiflorum, a
succulent perennial herb native to Madagascar, grows wild in the
western coastal districts. Leaves, 6-8cm in length, spotted with
purple-black on a gray-green background, with bulbils at tips. The
bulbils that have fallen on the ground take root; thus, this species
can asexually propagate. Flowers, ranging from orange to bright red,
are set on the stem apices. Bloom time: May-August. |
