Calanthe puberula:
It is a perennial orchid species inhabiting damp forest floors in
mountainous regions, with spherical pseudobulbs a bit beneath the
ground surface. Three to five, 10-30cm long and 3-6cm wide,
fascicled, narrow, long-oblong leaves with vertical creases and
pointed tips. Twenty to forty centimeters in height, the flower
stalks set 10-20 pale red-purple flowers; the sepals are oval-oblong
shaped, the lateral petals linear, and the cleft-in-three labella
(lips) droop. Bloom time: July-August. |
