Calanthe tricarinata,
with spherical pseudobulbs, is a perennial
orchid species in deciduous tree forests like beech forests in a
temperate zone. Leaves, fascicled in 2-4 blades, are approximately
20cm in length. Flower stalks, measuring 30-50cm in height, bear a
dozen or so flowers in racemes; the sepals and side petals are
yellow-green, while the lips are purplish-brown, with crinkled
margins and three crest-like swellings in the middle. Bloom time:
April-May. |
