Cardamine hirsuta,
a biennial herb originating in Europe or
East Asia, occurs on roadsides, lawns, or gardens. It resembles a
related native species, Cardamine flexuosa, but still keeps radical
leaves even in flowering. The leaves measure 2-10cm long, pinnately
and deeply cut in, the lobes comprising 3-7 pairs, each broad
oblong, and the terminal segments are the largest. There are a few
leaves on the stems. Flowers are white; petals measure 2-3mm in
length. Bloom time: February-April. |
