Carex ischnostachya,
a perennial herb, 30-60cm in height, inhabits shades of trees in
fields and mountains; stems, sharply 3-ridged, growing in the crowd.
Leaves are soft, linear, 0.5-1cm in width, with three prominent
veins. Spikelets are 3-6 in number; the terminal ones are males,
2-3cm, linear, and lateral ones are females, a bit thicker than the
males, 2-3cm in diameter. Bloom time: April-June. |
