Carex pumila, a
perennial herb occurring in sandy soil in seashores, grows to
10-20cm in height. Leaves are 2-4mm wide, linear, stiff, and glossy
surfaces. Leaves at the bases are bladeless, putting dark red-brown
leaf sheaths on the stems. Two or three spikelets on upper potions
are males,2-3cm in length, linear. The lower portions of the other
2-3 spikelets are females, 1.5-3cm long, cylindrical. Bloom time:
April-July. |
