Carpesium glossophyllum is
a 25-50cm-tall perennial herb found in the shade of a tree, where it
is somewhat dry in mountainous or hilly regions, with divaricate
hairs on stems and leaves. Radical leaves, still existing in
flowering time, are 9-15cm long, 2.5-3.5cm wide, in the shape of an
oblanceolate, with few serrations on margins. On-stem leaves are
small and sparse, becoming linear-like lanceolate. Branch tips bear
single, green-white flower heads that face downward. The flower
heads measure 0.8-1.5cm in diameter, with bracts at the bases. Bloom
time: August-October. |
