Chionographis japonica
is a perennial herb inhabiting forests or forest edges along streams
in mountainous regions. Radical leaves radially develop, growing
into an oblanceolate shape, 8-14cm in length, with fine wavy
serrations on margins. Scapes measure 15-40cm in height, with linear
on-stem leaves. Stem tips give 10-20cm-long racemes with many white
flowers. The flowers bloom from bottom to top in order, and the
perianth lobes are 6 in number, the upper four being linear, with
tops thick, and the lower two being significantly short. Bloom time:
