Chrysosplenium kiotense
is a perennial herb inhabiting wet portions of forests along the
valleys in mountainous regions. Leaves on the lower parts are
oval-like orbicular as those of C. fauriei. Flower stalks measure
approximately 10cm in height, with lower bracts bright yellow.
Flowers lack petals. Instead, dark red-brown calyx lobes, 4 in
number, stand erect as if to be the petals. Eight stamens with dark
red-brown anthers are shorter than the height of the calyx lobes.
Bloom time: April-May. |
