Cladrastis sikokiana
is a deciduous tree that grows in hilly
districts, and its significant ones reach 20m in height. Leaves are
of alternate phyllotaxis of an imparipinnate compound leaf with 4-6
pairs of, typically, alternate leaflets. The leaflets measure 4-12cm
long, 2-6cm wide, long oblong, with 13-15 pairs of veins, upper
surfaces with no hairs, and lower surfaces glaucous with light
strands. Branch tips bear conical inflorescences that produce
papilionaceous flowers, 2-2.5cm long, with a vexillum that bends
back. Bloom time: June-August. |
