Clematis stans, an
approximately one meter in height perennial herb, inhabits
grasslands or forest edges in mountainous regions, the lower part of
stems becoming woody. Leaves are oppositely arranged, of a ternate
compound leaf, cleft shallowly in three oval leaflets, with long
stalks, tips pointed. Many light purple flowers bloom facing
downwards in cymes emerging from the stem tops or leaf axils. Bloom
