Dioscorea japonica is a
vine perennial whose phyllotaxis is alternate. Often, axils produce
bulbils that will germinate the following year after falling to the
ground. The plant is dioecious: male inflorescences are erect and
set with white flowers, and female inflorescences hang. The fruit
equips itself with three flat, circular wings, and the seeds are
enveloped with membranes. Bloom time: July-August. |
