Dioscorea japonica is a
vine perennial whose phyllotaxis is alternate. Often, axils produce
bulbils that will germinate next year after falling on the ground.
The plant is dioecious: male inflorescences are erect and set with
white flowers, and female inflorescences hang. The fruit equips
itself with three flat, circular wings, and seeds are enveloped with
membranes. Bloom time: July-August. |
