Dioscorea quinqueloba is a perennial vine found in forests or along forest edges. Rhizomes shallowly crawl underground, and the branches of the vine grow well in the upper parts. Leaves are alternate, triangularly ovate, palmately cleft in 5-9, with short hairs on upper and lower surfaces, and the petiole bases have a pair of tubercles; the perianth lobes are yellow and open flat. Dioecious: seeds are oblong, with wings all around. Bloom time: July-August.
