Epipactis thunbergii is
a perennial herb inhabiting wetlands 30-70cm in height, with
rhizomes crawling sideways and emerging roots at nodes. Stems are
light purple at basal parts with some sheath-like leaves. Leaves are
alternate,7-12cm long, 2-4cm wide, oblong-ovate, with conspicuous
vertical lines along veins, bases becoming short, sheath-like, and
embracing the stems. Flowers set themselves about ten on the upper
parts of the branches; sepals are 1.2-1.5cm long, long oval, with
tips pointed, and tinge green-brown. Side petals, oval, tinge
orange-yellow. Bloom tie: June-August. |
