Euonymus japonicus is an evergreen shrub found in coastal
forests or edges, growing to 2-6m in height. Leaves, the phyllotaxis
being opposite or rarely alternate, are thick and oblong, 3-8cm
long, 2-4cm in width, with shallow serrations on margins. Cymes
emerge from the leaf axils with 7mm-in-diameter green-white or
white-green flowers, 7-15 in number, in June-July. The fruit matures
in red, and the aperture is four, from November to January. Bloom
time: June-July. |
