Euphorbia
maculata is an annual herb, native to North
America, now naturalized in western Japan. Its stems are
tinged light red and are erect or diagonal, growing to
20-40cm in height. Leaves are in opposite arrangement,
1.5-3.5cm long, in an elliptical shape, and the right
and left are irregular in form at the bases. Flowers are
borne in sparse cyathium inflorescences on branch tops.
Bloom time: June-October.
