Euphorbia maculata is an annual herb, a native of North America, now naturalized in western Japan; stems tinge light red and are erect or diagonal, growing to 20-40cm in height. Leaves are in opposite arrangement, 1.5-3.5cm long, in an elliptical shape, and the right and left are irregular in the form at the bases. Flowers come in sparse cyathium inflorescences borne on branch tops. Bloom time: June-October.
