Fagopyrum cymosum,
a perennial herb 40-100cm in height, reportedly
originating in Central Asia, escaped from
cultivation, and some individuals now grow wild.
Stems grow in clusters from tubers, stand erect and
branch well, and are hollow, occasionally tinging
brown. Leaves, wavy, are alternate, 4-12cm long,
3-11cm wide, in the shape of a triangular to cordate,
with entire margins and 2-10 cm-long petioles. Axils
on the upper parts emerge with racemes of 5-6mm
across white flowers. Bloom time: September-October. |
