Fagus crenata, a deciduous
tree found in high altitudes in mountainous regions, grows to 30m in
height and 1m in diameter, with gray-white, smooth barks. Leaves are
alternate, 4-9cm in length, 2-4cm in width, thin and somewhat stiff,
with margins undulate. Flowers bloom simultaneously when the leaves
develop; male inflorescences hang from axils on lower parts of new
branches, 6-15 flowers bloom in a bundle, while females appear from
