Galeola septentrionalis, a
saprophytic orchid species lacking chlorophyll pigments, occurs in
the forests in mountainous regions. Stems are thick,
yellowish-brown, growing up to 1m in height, making many branches.
Scale-like stuff on the stems has degenerated leaves, which makes it
feel weird. Upper units each set 3cm long yellow-brown flowers in a
racemose manner. Bloom time: June-July. |
