Gentiana zollingeri is a biennial herb occurring in sunny
places in fields and mountains; stems grow to 6-9cm in height, and
set leaves dense in opposite phyllotaxis on the upper half. The
leaves are 0.5-1.2cm long, in a broad-oval shape, and somewhat
thick; the backsides generally tinge purple. Stem tips bear some
blue-purple flowers in bundles. Corollas measure 2-2.5cm long, are
bell-shaped, and have green calyxes. Bloom time: March-May. |
