Gymnaster savatieri is a perennial herb found in the
shade of a tree. Its stem grows to 20-50cm in height. Leaves are
alternate, ovate to obovate, with long petioles and wings that
gradually become shorter to nothing as they grow upward. Light
blue-purple flower heads singly set themselves on branch tips, with
few ligulate flowers. Involucres are about 6mm long, semi-spherical,
with involucral bracts, pointed tips, and minute hairs on the
margins. Bloom time: May-June. |
