Hydrangea luteo-venosa,
a deciduous shrub as tall as 1.5 meters, grows in bright
hills or low mountain slopes with slender branches, young ones
tingeing red-purple. Leaves are alternate, blades measuring 3-5cm,
with margins with sparse prominent serrations. Both surfaces are
hairy on veins and incredibly dense on the backsides. Inflorescences
measure 2-7cm in diameter; ornamental flowers are not many, one to
three. Some inflorescences comprise decorative flowers only. The
ornamental flowers are white, 1.5-2.5cm in diameter, and
occasionally tinge light yellow. Hermaphrodite flowers are pale
yellow-green, about 8mm across, with petals' tips pointed. Bloom
time: June-July. |
