Hydrilla verticillata is a perennial herb found in ponds
or flowing waters. In the autumn, it makes overwintering buds, which
sink to the bottom and spend the wintertime. Stems extend in the
water and set themselves in whorls of two to six 1-1.5cm long linear
ones. It is dioecious of hydrophilous flowers. As mature, male
flowers float on the water, letting pollen flow to female flowers'
stigmas. Bloom Time: August-October. |
