Inhabiting rocky areas in the
alpine to subalpine zone west of central Honshu, including Mt.
Daisen, Hypericum asahinae is a perennial herb of
approximately 20cm height. Leaves, with tips obtuse, are in the
shape of an oval-oblong and alternately arranged, embracing stems
with their basal portions. Both dark and pale glands exist on the
leaf surfaces, but the margins are the former only. Big yellow
5-petaled flowers bloom in the summertime. Bloom time: June-August. |
