Ilex latifolia, an
evergreen tree 10-20cm tall with smooth gray-brown barks, inhabits
forests in mountainous regions. Leaves are alternate; their blades
measure 10-17cm long, 4-7cm wide, in an oblong shape, with tips
pointed, bases circular or obtuse, and margins with sharp
serrations. They also are thick and leathery, and upsides are green,
glossy, and prominent veins. Flowers are dioecious; flowers set
themselves small green-yellow flowers on significantly short
branches born at axils. Drupes mature in red in November. Bloom
time. May-June. |
