Iris sanguinea f. albiflora,
a white form of Iris sanguine, perennial, occurs in somewhat
dry grasslands, with rhizomes with brown fiber systems around.
Leaves alternate in two rows, 30-60cm in height and 0.5-1cm long, in
the shape of a sword-like linear. Flower stalks stand in groups at
the bases to reach 30-60cm tall and set 2-3 flowers on the tops; the
flowers are white, approximately 8cm across, and perianth lobes are
6 in number, and the outer three are broad oval shaped with yellow
bases. The other three of the inside are slender and erect. Bloom
time: May-June. |
