The Japanese name, Manekigusa,
for Lamium ambiguus, is derived from the flower's atmosphere,
which may associate with hand gestures to invite someone in or lure.
It is a perennial herb of 40-70cm in height. Leaves are of opposite phyllotaxis, in the shape of a 3-8cm-long orbicular ovate with
somewhat wrinkles on surfaces. Axils on the upper parts give birth
to some dark red-purple labiate flowers. Bloom time:
August-September. |
