The Japanese name Manekigusa for Lamium ambiguus is
derived from the flower's atmosphere, which may be associated with
hand gestures used to invite or lure someone. It is a perennial herb
that reaches a height of 40-70cm. Leaves are of opposite phyllotaxis,
in the shape of a 3-8cm-long orbicular ovate with some wrinkles on
the surfaces. Axils on the upper parts bear dark red-purple labiate
flowers. Bloom time: August-September. |
