Lamium purpureum,
a European-originating biennial herb, has stems with a square
cross-section and grows to 10-25cm in height. Leaves are opposite,
1.5-3cm long, in an orbicular-ovate shape, with obtuse serrations on
margins and conspicuous reticulated veins. The leaves on the upper
parts are dense and tinged in red-purple. Axils on the upper parts
are densely set, about 1cm long, with light red, labiate flowers.
