Luisia teres, an evergreen perennial orchid species,
inhabits trunks or branches with stems 20-40cm long and enveloped
with leaf sheaths. The 6-12cm long leaves are fleshy and cylindrical
(cross-section: 3-4mm); the phyllotaxis alternates in two rows. From
leaf axils, some flowers, approximately 1cm in diameter, appear in
June-July, both sepals and petals being light green, and lips
blackish-brown, having small side lobes at the bases. Bloom time:
June-July. |
