Lycopodium serratum
is an
evergreen perennial fern growing in clusters on damp, shady forest
floors, standing erect. Leaves are oblanceolate to long-oblong-lanceolate,
the lower parts becoming petioles with uneven, sharp serrations and
mid-ribs with no veins. Sori singly put themselves on the upper
part's axils, mature in yellow, and split open sideways to give
spores, and the stem tops put gemma (asexual buds), which fall and
grow to new bodies. Spore stage: July-September. |
