Lysimachia japonica, a
small perennial herb with vellus hairs on stems, inhabits roadsides
or yards, crawling on the ground to spread on all sides. In an
alternate arrangement, the leaves are 1-2.5cm long, 1-2cm wide, and
in a broad ovate shape, with tips short and pointed. Leaf axils give
birth to single small yellow flowers, and corollas are deeply cleft
into five and open flat. Capsules are spherical, 4-5mm in diameter,
and enveloped with deeply cleft calyxes. Bloom time: May-June. |
