Melampyrum roseum var. roseum closely
resembles another variety, Melampyrum roseum var. japonicum. The
inflorescence is more extended, 10-20cm long, flowers sparser, hairs
are fewer on the floral axis, and fewer serrations on the bracts -
all those descriptions are abstract. I apply only to individuals
that have apparently few serrations. Bloom time: August-October.
