Spreading rhizomes

Menyanthes trifoliata,
an aquatic perennial herb, inhabits marshes or swamps in mountainous
regions. With long petioles, leaves are three leaflets, each 4-8cm
long. Stem tops form racemes, approximately 30cm in height, and
produce 10-20 white flowers, each about 1 cm across, in them; they
bloom sequentially from bottom to top. Corollas are deeply cleft
into 5, and each segment has many twisted white hairs inside. Sepals
5 in number, stamens 5, and pistils 1. Bloom time: May-August. |
