Metaplexis japonica
is
a creeping perennial found in sunny fields, extending underground
stems long to propagate. Leaves are opposite, in the shape of an
oval-like heart, 5-10cm in length and 3-6cm in width. Flowers, light
purple, are borne on stalks from the leaf axils. Bloom time: August.
