It is a small annual species that
inhabits moist to wet grasslands. Mitrasacme pygmaea
does not exceed 10cm in height. Besides, most of the body is
occupied by a flower stalk; the herb is tiny, at most 1cm tall.
Leaves are opposite, in two to four pairs, oval or oblong, 0.7-1.5cm
long and 0.3-0.6cm wide, with pointed tips. White flowers, each
2.5mm in diameter, appear on a peduncle that emerges from the bract;
they bloom in August-September. |
