Morus bombycis,
a deciduous shrub or tree with brown bark growing to 3-15m in
height, inhabits mainly hills and low mountains. Leaves are of
alternate phyllotaxis, 6-14cm long and 4-11cm wide, in oval-like,
broad, oblong shape with or without notches, with tips pointed long
like a tail and bases truncate, shallowly heart-shaped. Serrations
are somewhat coarse, with tips indicated, and surfaces feel gritty,
with sparse short hairs on veins. This species is dioecious and
occasionally monoecious. Bloom time: April-May. |
