Spreading out its aerial roots on trunks or rocks, Neofinetia
falcata, an
evergreen perennial, inhabits trunks and rocks in fields and
mountains. The leaves are thick and stiff, 5-10cm in length, 6-8mm
in width, broadly linear, and out-curved. They have joints at the
bases, and the ones that have survived the winter drop off from
them, resulting in old leaf sheaths covering the stems. Flower
stalks grow to 3-10cm long and set 3-5 white flowers on them; sepals
and side petals are both 1cm in length, linear-lanceolate, lips
three-lobed, spurs slender, out-curved, and hanging down. Bloom
time: June-July. |
