Ophiopogon japonicus,
a perennial occurring on forest floors in
fields and mountains, propagates by extending runners to form
colonies. Leaves are radical, 10-20cm long, 2-3mm wide, and linear
in shape. Somewhat flattened, flower stalks grow to 7-15cm in height
and set white or light purple flowers in a raceme. Seeds measure 7mm
in diameter and are deep blue. Bloom time: July-August. |
