Ophiopogon japonicus, a perennial occurring on forest
floors in fields and mountains, propagates by extending runners to
form colonies. Leaves are radical, 10-20cm long, 2-3mm wide, and in
a linear shape. Somewhat flattened, flower stalks grow to 7-15cm in
height and set white or light purple flowers in a raceme way. Seeds
measure 7mm in diameter and are deep blue. Bloom time: July-August. |
