Oxalis corniculata f. rubrifolia / Akakatabami アカカタバミ

Oxalis corniculata f. rubrifolia, a form of the original species Oxalis corniculata, is slightly smaller than the parent species. It grows in dry areas, such as sandy sections of roadsides and in the cracks of asphalt. It branches nicely, and its lower parts scrawl on the ground, and the upper parts sit up. Leaves comprise three leaflets with red-purple color. Umbels emerge from the axils and bear approximately 8mm in diameter, yellow flowers with red mottles inside, forming red rings that surround the ovaries. The fruit (capsule) is approximately 2cm in length, cylindrical, and splits open to release numerous seeds as it matures. Bloom time: May-July.
